Companion Piece to The Finale of "Important Women Who Did Important S%#t" - Episode 92

Hey, Brookworms!

This blog post is not going to be in any kind of order at all!  Victoria and I talked about SO many different articles, films, books, etc., during our last episode of "Important Women Who Do Important Shit".  I wanted to share with you as many of the references that we used throughout the episode.  First, I will feature Vic's references below.

          KimberlĂ© Crenshaw

               Judith Butler Books

                    Patricia Hill Collins

                         Teddy Bear Patriarchy

* You can find Vic online at Pocket Change Productions on YouTube, on Twitter @zera77, and she is part of the Project Entertainment Network.

Now, I will include the links from my notes that I mentioned during our episode.

(Vic's article that she talked about during the show)

I hope you all enjoyed this series!  I can't wait to hear your thoughts.  Stay tuned for some amazing content this summer at the Brook, and I will talk to you all soon!

Episode 89 Supplemental Post - Links to Shirley Chisholm and Black Lives Matter

Here are some of the links and resources that I promised during this week's episode.  This link, from the New York Public Library, was embedded in a Twitter chain by @kawaiiedgelord who made a really good point.  Being in chains and getting the word out are all fine and good, but this Twitter user wanted to share some resources, especially for young people.  That link is below.

This is another post that I found and I'd like to share it with you.  It is a website chock full of places to donate, resources to learn about, and ways to help.  Please check it out, especially if you want to act, but don't really know where to start.

Also, utilize social media!  Follow #blacklivesmatter on Twitter, and I'm sure you can find similar hashtags and posts on Facebook and Instagram.

If you find ANYTHING we can add to this list, please contact me and I will post additional blogs.  You can find me on Twitter @brookreadingpod, or email me directly,

Lastly, here are the websites I used for the biographical information on Shirley Chisholm, as well as a stunning image of the real woman next to Uzo Aduba from Mrs. America
